While everyone agreed that they could rest easy with Sheila gone, Eric seemed to almost defend her.

It was when Eric was talking about when he had a romance with Sheila decades ago. While everyone had comments about that, Eric said Sheila wasn’t all bad, not bad then. Eric admitted that Sheila only really got bad after all the attacks on her.

While Eric wasn’t justifying any of Sheila’s decisions, it did seem like a bizarre foreshadowing. Eric has never defended Sheila before, so why start now?

What will be the next obstacle for Eric and Donna? The two have gone through a lot together, but what if Eric and Sheila end up reconnecting? Eric seemed to half-defend Sheila for a reason. Perhaps Eric gets another illness, one that affects his judgment and thinking.
